On the weekend from November 24 to November 26, 2023, a great Silla Gum Do course took place in the tranquil town of Herzebrock in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The 22 participants included grandmasters, masters and students from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Norway.
Thomas Weber, himself 1st Dan in Silla Gum Do, organized the course on behalf of Grandmaster Franz-Josef Wolf, founder of Silla Gum Do.
The focus of the course was clearly on joint training, with an emphasis on basic strokes and form running with the sword.
Grandmaster Franz-Josef Wolf also demonstrated particularly challenging cutting tests and taught the correct sword care at the end of Saturday evening.
On the last day of the course, Sunday, there was also an examination in Silla Gum Do.
Thomas Weber took his first intermediate examination for II Dan and Nils Schürer for I Dan.
Both were able to convince the examination board, consisting of Franz-Josef Wolf, Manfred Salmhofer, Karla Kalhoff and assessor Gerlinde Petz, of their performance and passed their examination.
Both this course and this examination were the first of their kind to be organized by the International Silla Gum Do Cooperation.
The International Silla Gum Do Cooperation was founded in September by Franz-Josef Wolf (President), Manfred Salmhofer (Vice President), Karla Kalkhoff (Managing Director) and Günther Dieber (Finance Chairman) and is based in Austria.
